There are a number of common cosmetic improvements which are popular. Both aftermarket and Land Rover original side steps and other fittings are available. A common update for older vehicles is to add a 2000MY light kit, which updates the look of the vehicle considerably.
More wood bits
If you look on eBay, you will find a number of suppliers who can provide extra walnut effect bits for the cabin - dash, doors, central cubby and so on. These are self-adhesive and need to be applied with care and a hot air gun, but they are usually inexpensive and really do look smart. Also check out www.xoticreplicas.com for majour body modifications.
LPG conversions are popular for the V8 vehicles. I have converted (personally) both my HSE vehicles to injected LPG using an Italian BRC system. I have photos and details of the program which I had to write to suit as well as a wealth of operational experience over the past 18 months. In Australia we receive a $2000 incentive to install LPG, so the total cost is less than $3000 if you are handy enough to do the whole job yourself. You must then have it inspected and certified by a licenced installer. I recommend oil changing at no more than 5000 km due to the gas combustion pollutants picked up by the oil. I should do an edit on my contributions, make that a total cost of #1000 for the LPG conversion. John
