One recurring question is the names for the different variants of the Range Rover. Essentially there are three main versions: The classic model produced from 1970 to 1996. The last ones bore a "Classic" badge and were produced in parallel with the newer P38A.

The P38A model produced from 1996 to 2001. It takes it's name from Project 38A, the internal Land Rover code name. Interestingly, P38A was never used within Land Rover - it was always "38A" or Project 38A. And 38A is the building where the development word was done. The earlier code name, Pegasus, was dropped because of excessive media interest at the time.

The L322 model produced from 2002 onwards. The L322 is the latest version and most desirable. I'm keeping tabs on how well it improves on the P38A in terms of reliability. Initial signs looks good. I want one.
